Change Savings is a innovative feature in the Appreciate app that allows you to automatically set aside small amounts of money from your everyday transactions. This is to build savings disciple. This feature operates in two ways:

1. Setup Change Savings: With this option, the system requires permission to read your SMS transaction messages. It then rounds up each transaction to the nearest whole number and invests the spare change.

2. Daily Savings Challenge: This option doesn't require SMS permissions. You can set up a daily savings challenge, for example, Rs 100, and manually invest this amount every day.

Please note, the actual investment only happens when the collected amount reaches Rs 2000.

A lot, actually! To give you an idea, investing a mere Rs. 18 a day, which you can accumulate in just 3-4 transactions, can add over Rs. 10 lakhs to your portfolio over 25 years. During this time, you would've invested just Rs. 1.6 lakhs but your portfolio will be closer to Rs. 10 lakhs! This is the power of discipline and compounding, through Appreciate Change Savings. 

We invest your saved change in the US stock market. More specifically, in a diversified large cap exchange-traded-fund ('ETF') with the ticker symbol VOO representing the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF. This is a low expense rate asset which has performed very well historically and is expected to perform well over the long term.  Over time, we will update where we invest as better performing ETFs become available.  

No! Its all in your control. If you want to let the Appreciate app access your SMS history, you can benefit from actual rounding of your transactions. However, if you don't want to do that, you can just set a daily SIP. The app won't get access to your SMS.

Psst. - even when you give access, SMS data never leaves your phone and are used purely to identify transaction details, solely for Change Savings purposes. So you can rest assured that your information is safe!
