4.1 Eastern Standard Time (EST)

This variant of ET is followed during the autumn and winter months. It is five hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), which is the primary time standard regulating world clocks and time zones. IST is 10 hours and 30 minutes ahead of EST.

4.2 Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

During the spring and summer months, the Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) variant of ET is followed. It is four hours behind UTC. IST is 9 hours and 30 minutes ahead of EDT.
